The Big Hole Watershed Committee is hosting DNRC representatives at their monthly meeting on Feb 20th, 6pm at the Divide Grange.
The water rights compact involving the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes, the United States and the state of Montana is in Washington, DC awaiting congressional approval. There has also been a recent effort by some citizens of Montana to circulate a new compact and reject the current compact in DC. Whether the compact in DC is approved or not has very real effects on the citizens of Montana and water rights owners in particular. It’s important to be educated on the issue and to let your elected representatives hear from you on the topic.
Come listen to the impacts to Montana state waters of either ratifying this compact or rejecting it.
